The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) reported that thousands of solo parents in Davao City have benefited from the city’s solo parent subsidy program, which was implemented in 2024 under a local ordinance.
Karla Quintela, Solo Parent Focal Person of the CSWDO, said the subsidy program started in 2024 and continues to assist qualified solo parents across the city.
“Since 2024, nag-start ang subsidy program para sa atong mga solo parents. In fact, ongoing pa po ang among payout sa first quarter kay adunay mga technicalities sa mga entries, pero nadayon na gyud ang first quarter,” Quintela said.
Quintela said a total of 5,267 solo parents have qualified for the subsidy program, with payouts currently ongoing.
“Naa na tay 5,267 ka qualified solo parents nga nakadawat sa solo parent subsidy. Ang matag qualified beneficiary makadawat og P1,000 per month,” she added.
Quintela explained that the subsidy is released on a quarterly basis.
She said while payouts for the January to March period were expected in March or April, technical issues delayed the release.
“Quarterly ang payout. Para sa January, February, ug March, posible unta nga March o April ang payout, apan tungod sa mga technicalities, nakapayout ta pag-May. Ongoing gihapon kini karon,” she said.
According to Quintela, the payout process began during the last week of May and is currently being conducted in several districts.
“Karong panahona, nagapayout ta sa Buhangin A, Bunawan District, ug Paquibato District,” she said.
She also announced the next schedule of releases.
Quintela said payouts were scheduled on June 8 for beneficiaries in Toril, Baguio District, Calinan, and Marilog District.
She added that payouts in the other districts have already been completed, and schedules have also been arranged for the distribution of unclaimed benefits.
For beneficiaries in Talomo District who were unable to claim their subsidy during the initial release, Quintela said a separate schedule has been arranged.
“Ang Talomo District, by the way, ang ilang unclaimed schedule kay sa Monday pa po,” she added.
Quintela said the CSWDO continues to encourage qualified solo parents to monitor official announcements regarding payout schedules and documentary requirements to ensure the timely release of their benefits.
