Maya on the Block: UrbanEast’s The Gardens at South Ridge Wins at Lamudi & Property Guru Awards

It takes impeccable vision and unwavering determination to achieve one’s goals of making it to the top of the lucrative and ever-evolving industry called real estate.

That’s exactly what homegrown developer UrbanEast Developments Inc. intends to be and is closer to becoming after it was given recognition by two prestigious real estate awarding programs.

UrbanEast’s The Gardens at South Ridge, a high-end subdivision development located in Toril Davao City, was awarded Best Premium House of the Year (Visayas and Mindanao) by online property marketplace Lamudi during the Outlook 2022 Awards and Best Housing Development (Metro Davao) as well as Highly Commended as Best Architectural Design by the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards, which is the region’s largest and most respected real estate awards program.

There’s something special with the project as the jurors of the awards body flew in from Manila just to see the property up close and personal.

“The project deserves it. It’s an honor that a Davao-based project by a Davao City homegrown developer was chosen for these awards among other developments,” said Edward Bernardo, president of UrbanEast in an interview.

What makes The Gardens shine among the rest?

The 7-hectare The Gardens is the 6th subdivision development of UrbanEast. It’s a high-end gated and green community located up there in Catigan, Toril, thus the concept of the development because there’s a lot of greenery that is being maintained all the time.

It boasts of only 200 blocks of property for a highly exclusive feel.

“It’s an exclusive suburban green pocket subdivision with a Modern European architectural theme applied throughout. If you are an investor there you can be guaranteed this is going to be an intimate community. The development is not too large and access to the main road of Catigan, Toril and the village’s amenities is very near for all residents. It’s very convenient. The development itself is quintessentially suburban if you really want peace and convenience at the same time: it is not too near but not very far either from the City Center. It’s also elevated, which is one of the hallmarks of Catigan.” he said.

All architectural elements and landscaping design were chosen meticulously for exclusive green living.

“Our recently-completed project is deserving of the awards because it is a great development and we are very proud of it. We in the Company worked very hard for it,” he added.

A heritage developer in Davao City, UrbanEast was founded by its president Edward Bernardo, who in turn is a scion of the Bernardo family best known for its pioneering development of the high-end and exclusive 45-hectare subdivision development along Diversion Road, Ma-a, the Monteritz Classic Estates Davao, perched conveniently in a natural landscape of rolling hills and ridges overlooking the beautiful view of Davao City, the majestic Mt. Apo, and the Davao Gulf.

As to The Gardens, completing the feeling of an exclusive community is its clubhouse complex called The Greenhouse, which is now fully developed and with the complete amenities that all premium buyers have come to expect from a development of this calibre, which will all be inaugurated in a formal ceremony before the end of the month.

As a full scale and full service real estate developer, a lot of projects are in the pipeline from UrbanEast – vertical, commercial, high-end, and of course, economic housing horizontal developments on which foundation it has largely grown over the years.

“Though we are currently looking at vertical developments because it is the trend in the market now and we do have a valuable landbank perfect for vertical developments, we will not stop doing subdivision developments because it is our bread and butter and what we believe delivers superior value to the market,” he said.

With the accolades it has recently achieved, The Gardens indeed currently serves as a shining example of the achievements and great potential of this fast rising Davao City-based real estate developer.
