Maya on the Block: Water sculpture made a splash at Samal Shores

Have you ever been moved by a mere unveiling ceremony? I was.

I must admit it was the first time I experienced a mysterious and indescribable feeling.

PJ Tri-Gon Realty Corporation, the premier real estate affiliate of Ulticon Builders Incorporated and developer of upscale residential project Samal Shores Residenza in Barangay Limao, Island Garden City of Samal (IGaCoS), unveiled Samal Shores Residenza entry statement installation named “Language of Water” in the heart of the property.

The company shied away from the usual countdown by featuring a guest performer performing an interpretative dance while the white cloth covering the statue gradually fell.

Language of Water, designed by renowned artist Jinggoy Buensuceso, serves as a symbolic gateway to the first-ever township on Samal Island, embodying the modern tropical elegance of the community.

It was made more meaningful as guests participated by floating the “bankang papel” (paper boat) provided which signified letting go of the extra baggage and let the water consume it.

According to Buensuceso, the masterpiece, which is the centerpiece of the 3,000 square meters park component of the property, was inspired by the water surrounding the beautiful island of Samal.

The piece is the epitome of solid texture and movement of water that curbs the soul and culture of the people of the island.

“There’s no greater inspiration than water. The sea is the way of life of the people of this island,” he said.

The sculpture is made of 316 stainless steel that will last for generations to come and the texture and shape of the piece is a depiction of the theatrical movement of water.

At night, the sculpture looks like a shimmering moonglade on the water perfect for pondering life.

The entry statement installation is more than just a traditional marker, it is surrounded by an actual park that people can visit and enjoy, showcasing a space for relaxation and engagement.

Language of Water represents the identity and vision of Samal Shores Residenza.

The lovely Beatrice Gonzalez Magallanes, Group Senior External Vice President for Finance and Treasury of the company, said the installation is more than just a traditional sign, the entry statement is a place where people can come and enjoy, providing a space for interaction and relaxation.

“This is a sculpture that embodies the vision and spirit of Samal Shores and Samal Island. This piece is a symbol of the township’s commitment to blend modern living with the island’s natural beauty,” she said.

This unveiling reinforces Samal Shores Residenza’s commitment to creating a world-class township with a blend of residential, commercial, and leisure spaces.

The sculpture serves as a landmark, welcoming residents, visitors, and investors to the future of island living.
