If Women’s Month had a flavor, it would be something irresistibly sweet: muffins with extra frosting and a generous sprinkle of girl power on top.
On Monday, I found myself right in the middle of this sugary celebration, joining an inspiring mix of women from the hospitality, events, peace and security, and media sectors for a cupcake workshop that felt more like a feel-good gathering than a class.
Fresh from her win, newly crowned Patnubay ng Dabaw 2026 titleholder Robynn Lee didn’t hesitate to roll up her sleeves-mixing, piping, and decorating like she belonged in the kitchen just as much as on stage.
As for me, I fully embraced my role as the unofficial storyteller of the day, snapping everything from frosting fails to candid laughter, and those proud “look at my cupcake!” moments that deserved their own spotlight.
Under the guidance of the ever-talented Bambie Remon, the complimentary workshop at the Institute of International Culinary and Hospitality Entrepreneurship (ICHEF) turned into more than just baking.
It became a warm, welcoming space where creativity rose like perfectly baked muffins, confidence was piped into every swirl of icing, and sisterhood was the secret ingredient tying it all together.

“When you’re making muffins, you can create anything you like. What we are doing right now is celebrating Women’s Month. Women are creative, open, and open-minded just like muffins. You can create anything you like; it’s flexible, and it tastes really good,” Remon said.
Because empowerment doesn’t always come in grand gestures or big speeches. Sometimes, it’s found in the simplest, sweetest moments such as muffins shared, stories exchanged, and a room full of women lifting each other up, one swirl at a time.
