Forget your usual mountain trek. Last month, a group from the Davao media (including this writer) discovered that the “Baguio of Davao” just got a cultural glow-up!
We headed up to Majestic Peak in Marahan, Marilog District, and let’s just say, the views weren’t the only things serving looks.
Majestic Peak has long been the go-to sanctuary for those seeking a little soul-searching. With its scenic Stations of the Cross, a giant heart designed for the ‘gram, and that iconic towering cross watching over the rolling hills, it’s a place that naturally invites reflection.

But the landscape has a new set of stars: two charming Ifugao houses that look like they were plucked straight from the Cordilleras and dropped onto a Davao mountaintop.
While we’ve all seen the breathtaking mountain backdrops before, this time, we actually became part of the scenery. The peak now offers traditional Ifugao attire for rent, and obviously, we couldn’t resist the transformation.
There’s something truly magical about wearing intricate, hand-woven patterns while standing against a backdrop of mist and emerald peaks.
It wasn’t just a photo op; it was an entire vibe. Walking around the authentic huts in full traditional gear added a layer of cultural respect and joy to the visit, perfectly blending our rich Filipino heritage with that signature Marilog “chill.”
Whether you’re there to find a quiet moment of faith or just to breathe in the crisp mountain air, dressing the part makes the experience feel whole. It’s a refreshing reminder that even in our favorite local haunts, there’s always a new story to tell and a new outfit to wear while telling it.
