Let’s be honest, some “pour decisions” are actually the best decisions you’ll ever make. Sometimes, the best way to end the day is with one simple “pour decision,” a glass of good wine shared with good company.
And that’s exactly what happened at Swiss Deli & Restaurant on Mamay Road, where an intimate wine tasting transformed an ordinary weeknight into a delicious escape filled with good pours, great food, and even better conversations.
From the very first swirl, the evening was more than just about pouring wine, it was a passport to vineyards across Europe and South America, one glass at a time.
Guiding us through the experience was Troy Ferrer of Sommelier Selection, whose passion for every bottle made each sip feel like listening to a great story. Every wine had a personality, a history, and the perfect food waiting to meet it.

The wine tasting began with Il Pumo Sauvignon Malvasia from Puglia, Italy. This refreshing white wine offered tropical fruit flavors and delicate floral aromas, making it smooth, crisp, and easy to enjoy.
Then came the reds.
The Bistro Rouge (Social Club) from France was one of the easiest wines to enjoy that evening. With its ripe red fruit flavors and smooth finish, it was perfect for pairing with charcuterie, tapas, or simply sharing over good conversation.
For those who preferred a richer red, the Clos des Verdots Rouge from Southwest France offered flavors of ripe red cherries with a touch of spice and smooth tannins. It paired especially well with roasted meats and creamy cheeses like Camembert and Brie.
One of the night’s standout wines was the Los Morros Carménère from Chile’s Central Valley. It featured rich black fruit flavors with a subtle peppery finish, making it smooth, medium-bodied, and easy to drink. Paired with roasted pork and vegetables, it became even more enjoyable.

And just when we thought the night couldn’t get any better, Swiss Deli unveiled its newest wine labels, now available in-store.
Among them was Troy’s personal favorite, the Los Boldos Carménère from Chile. Smooth, elegant, and beautifully balanced, it stood out with its refined tannins and distinctive flavor profile, making it an easy recommendation for both seasoned wine lovers and those just beginning their wine journey.
Of course, wine is only half the story.
Swiss Deli’s signature cheeses, cold cuts, and comforting dishes completed the experience. Every bite unlocked new flavors in every glass, reminding everyone at the table that food and wine truly are one of life’s greatest love stories.
But perhaps the best pairing of the night wasn’t found on the menu.
It was the people.
Inside Swiss Deli’s cozy wine cellar, strangers became seatmates, seatmates became conversation partners, and before long, the room was filled with laughter, stories, recommendations, and the unmistakable sound of glasses happily clinking together.
It’s amazing how a good bottle of wine has a way of slowing time down. The evening was filled with good wine, delicious food, and meaningful conversations, from one sip and toast to another.
Because in the end, wine has never really been just about what’s inside the bottle. It’s about the stories shared around it.
