Davao City police director Ronald Dela Rosa confirmed last night that one of the two suspected drug pushers who were arrested after an early morning buy-bust operation is a close ally of barangay captain Amilbangsa Manding of Barangay 23-C.
De la Rosa told Edge Davao that the suspect Abubacar Rombo Racud also known as “Dragon” was a former Purok leader and a close friend of Manding. He was arrested by police in front of a food outlet in Salmonan, Brgy 23-C, Quezon Boulevard, Davao City at 12:15 am yesterday.
“Dugay nani sila gisurveilance, ug dugay nami nangita aning alyas Dragon, pero daghan nag ingon na taga 23-C nga suod ni sila sa ilang kapitan,” Dela Rosa said.
The Davao City Police Office Investigative and Management Branch spearheaded by Police Officer 3 Christopher Ararao and Police Officer 3 Marsden Maranga conducted the buy bust operation that netted Racud, 49, and Taya Cuaro Racud, 44, both resident of Purok 4-A, Isla Verde, Barangay 23-C, Boulevard Davao City.
Seized from the suspects were a medium size heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet and two pieces elongated size-heat sealed plastic sachet both containing a methamphetamine hydrochloride or known as shabu marked with the initials and signature of the poseur buyer.
The plastics containing shabu were recovered from the possession of the suspects.
A P500 bill bearing serial number VD247062 was used as marked money during the entrapment.
The confiscated items were turned over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
As this developed, Dela Rosa said that they will intensify their operation ‘Tokhang’ (toktok hangyo), to go after people involved in drugs.
“In Boulevard, we really need to focus there because babalik at babalik pa din yang mga iyan sa bisyo nila,” he explained.
Dela Rosa said that the illegal drugs in that area are from Marawi and Cotabato.
“We will not stop our operations until these drug users and pushers are all gone,” Dela Rosa said.
