Learning serious singing this summer for a change

Summer is not just the time to soak your self in the sea and get glamorously tanned. If you’re not the outdoor type of person, and you simply love to hang out at a videoke bar or at home, why not learn some serious singing for a change?
Don’t ever think that taking voice lessons is having a vacation back in school. It is simply giving yourself a chance to develop a talent that may lead you to a wider horizon of opportunities while having a good time.
There are a number of talented Dabawenyos who can become outstanding singers as they ought to be after a short training. This is why, music lovers like Ms. Rosalin Pie Basiao and her brother, Alvin Alviola, put up the Musikademy, a school for voice and piano lessons.
Musikademy, located at Unit 209 McArthur’s Pod, McArthur Highway, Matina, Davao City, has unified programs for kids (3-5 and 6-7 y.o.), grade school, high school and young adults. It offers MUSIKIDS, a developmental program for children who are willing to learn the ABCs of music the fun way. A student gets 12 lessons, two sessions a week this summer, in MUSIKIDS for only PhP2,680; in SMALL GROUP lessons (4-8 in a group) for PhP2,880, and in VOICE and PIANO (individual) for PhP4,800.
Opened last April, this school has the best facilities, according to Basiao, the managing director. She said Musikademy is the music authority in Davao because aside from being a fun school, it uses different approaches in voice class. With Alviola, the music director who was one of the pioneer vocal coaches of the Ryan Cayabyab Music school, a pioneer member of pop/jazz group, The CompanY, and director of the internationally-awarded, The Himig Singers, Musikademy has a major advantage.
This enrichment program is an appropriate way to balance a person’s intellectual and musical aspects, Basiao said. Coming from a musically-inclined family, both Basiao and Alviola have skills and passion for music that they heartily want to share with Dabawenyos. So, if you want to develop the musical side of you, schedule your summer camp at Musikademy now!  [Lorie Ann A. Cascaro]
