Best holiday treats start in October

Christmas is already upon us as early as this month with some stores starting to sell Christmas items. Yuletide songs are now renting air and played nonstop in the airwaves.
More than Christmas trees, lights, and decorations, the season of giving has already started. It is a Christian tradition that had its beginning when the three magi brought precious gifts when they found the Child Jesus in a manger.
Gift-giving is a symbol of affection, appreciation and thoughtfulness. The Christmas story described in the Gospels encourages us to be generous with one another. That is what we should do all the time—it is the way to really enjoy our common lives together on this earth. But when Christmas spirit abounds, this becomes easier and more natural.
In fact, a popular folklore figure in many countries during Yuletide season is Santa Claus, the Father Christmas associated with the bringing of gifts for children.
This early, some budget-conscious Filipinos start shopping for Christmas gifts for friends and relatives. They know prices of goods and products are still relatively cheaper and by this time shopping malls are still not crowded.
Thus this early, Edge Davao holds Holidaze 2010, a special trade fair that showcases eclectic mix of exquisite and desirable products ideal for Christmas gifts.
Now on its second year, the exhibit dubbed as “Holidaze 2010, Christmas Food and Gift Choices,” features food and cooking demonstrations.
With the theme “Handaang Pinoy sa Pasko”, the trade fair will specifically present cooking contest, coffee blending, flair bartending, chocolate brownies baking and cake decoration.
Aside from offering gift ideas, the trade fair will give hotel and restaurant management students, food enthusiasts and culinary experts to demonstrate their skills and specialties in the field of food and beverages.
It is also aimed to help home-grown entrepreneurs and established corporations expose the quality, affordability and accessibility of their products to the consuming public. Christmas, after all, is typically the largest annual economic stimulus for many nations around the world with increased overall spending on gifts, decorations and supplies.
The annual holding of Holidaze 2010 is consistent with one of Edge Davao’s missions to be a vehicle and forum for an open exchange and sharing of creative ideas among readers of communities that we serve.
All the best for Christmas!
