Temperature rose to fever pitch on Sunday as the final group of golfers compete for the Medal honors for the month of April 2024 at the Apo Golf and Country club.
Not even the 43 degrees’ Celsius heat index was able to stop the 120 members and guests from participating in the weekend tourney and indeed they were amply rewarded with trophies and raffle prizes during the awards and fellowship night.
Juan Miguel Dizon topped all comers by scoring 5 over par 77 in a difficult Apo golf condition to garner the Low Gross Title. Sharing the limelight is Senior golfer Nonie Cocjin a 23 handicapper who scored a net 66 to bag the Overall Net plum.
“I am just new for this position and will be attending this fellowship night as an observer but would like to welcome and congratulate all the participants, all the winners for this April Monthly medal tournament “said Atty Elvin Cubelo, the new General Manager of Apo Golf and Country Club.
Heading the winners in the Class A division are Gross Champion Tim Co (77) and Leo Yap (82) who came in as runner up. But it was a family affair for the Net diadem as the younger Miguel Fusilero who carded a net 72 outgunned the older Leo Fusilero (74) by two strokes.
Jerry Josol scored a gross 82 to ease out Boyet Sonico (84) for the Gross diadem honors for Class B Division. Edge Davao Columnist Engr Chito Malabanan copped the Net title for the division with his 68 outpointing Rico Rebigan (70) who settled for the net runner up honors.
Shaun Yu (90) took the Class C Gross title via countback over Michael Lim who took his share as runner up winner. Willy Cayetano (69) got the better over Rodelio Ravela (73) to cop the Net diadem for the division with the later settling down for the runner up honors.
Senior golfers Jackson Liu (94) and Danny Gotera (74) emerged as Gross and Net champions respectively for the Club 20 percent division (Seniors) with Jerry Leonor (104) joining them at the podium for the gross runner up honors.
Lady golfers Milou Babol (84) and Kath Aviles (net 68) shared the bounty for the Ladies division by copping the Gross and net title respectively while the charming Bia Apostol (77) settled for the Net runner up honors.
Jonathan Cabreros (78) and Pat Barcelon (72) lead all winners in the Guest Division Level A by copping the Gross and net title respectively while Ronald Gumawa (84) and Ed Alvez (76) settled for the runner up honors in the division.
Youthful Jose Bautista (87) won via countback over Liam Bajo for the Gross title in the Guest Division B while the petite and charming Mika De Leon (68) grabbed the Net title by easing out Klark Baricuatro (70) in the division.
Once again nobody went home empty handed since the management of Apo Golf and Country club made it possible that enough raffle prizes will be distributed to all the participants. The mouthwatering lechon at the center table and the sumptuous dinner buffet prepared for all the golfers and their families attending the fellowship is worthy enough for the time spent for golf as everyone patiently wait for their names to be called during the raffle time. The smiles in each golfer’s face say it all as they leave for their car with the catch of the night on hand anticipating a much wider smile from an expecting and welcoming wife at home.
