JABONG! Of golf politics and second life

Much has been said that featured our beloved sport into center stage that caught the attention of the netizens in social media but hardly mentioned in the mainstream media covering the games.

The steely nerve and focus of Dottie and Bianca somehow prevailed amidst the controversy they have endured. Professionals as they are and true to form, they did compete despite the adversity and inadequate support from the officials; supposed to be their backbone in the competition.

The bone (pun intended) of contention in this Olympic is their uniform and outfit which the NGAP failed to provide.Call it customs issue, failure of delivery, miscommunication or any play of words the officials may choose still the fact remains. They failed big time to provide the needs of our golfers.

How long will this fire of ineptitude last? It depends. So much damage control has been done lately in social media platform and mainstream media to extinguish it but the fire will continue burning as long as our countrymen remained unsatisfied by the pronouncements of their appointed media.

Second life

It’s all systems go for the 21st IGAN Cup golf tournament. The system 36 tournament will be held on August 30,2024 at the Eastridge Golf and Country Club in Binangonan, Rizal. Registration for the System 36 format competition, double shotgun start at 6am and 12 noon is pegged at 5,000 pesos that covers the green fee, give aways, raffleand buffet dinner.

It will be recalled that Arnold” Igan” Clavio suffered a hemorrhagic stroke last June 11 on his way home after playing golf in Eastridge Golf. “Feeling ok does not mean you’re ok. Feeling good does not mean we’re good. Listen to your body said Clavio after that incident.

Given the second chance of life he’s now living on a borrowed time thus his vow to spend every minute of it for a meaningful cause and one of which is giving back to his beneficiaries in the Igan ng Pilipinas Foundation Inc. through this golf tournament.

Hole in One

Congratulations to my buddy Vice Mayor Resty Sibug of Candaba, Pampanga who aced the Hole No 8 of Canlubang golf and Country Club South Course last August 6,2024. Sibug aced the 172-yard Par 3 hole using a 6 iron with the foursome of Christian Hobi, Kit Jin Hua, Sven Kunz and himself.

Resty is my golf buddy way back 10 years ago during our Saudi Arabia days. He’s our usual host when we Pinoys converged and play golf during Ramadhan and holidays in Dirabh Golf and Country Club in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Mabrook Sadiq.
