Former Ateneo de Davao High School cager Ronel Leuterio has studied basketball for quite some time now and came up with his own formula designed for us, the genetically not tall Filipinos.
It cannot be denied that we can no longer be Asian basketball champions as other countries have tremendously improved since the time we dominated the sport during the time of the late Paking “Rajah of the Rebound” Rabat, the pride of Davao Oriental, But we Filipinos love the sport so much.
Coach Ronel, who steered Ateneo de Davao High to a national title after beating San Beda High in the finals of the Milo BEST Passerelle Championship in Cebu that earned the Dabawenyos a slot to the 2004 ASEAN Basketball Championships in Thailand, said that his design is suited for Filipinos.
He has offered Samahang Basketball ng Pilipinas officials the formula and will fly from Chicago at his own expense for them to personally learn his formula.
Will the SBP officials give coach Ronel a chance to be heard? I hope they will.

What is happening to the Milo BEST SBP/Passarelle Basketball Tournament?
Gone are the days when organizers eagerly informed sportswriters about their event. I’m referring to Max Abrina, Jayson Yeo, and Mr. Lon.
What I’v e heard instead are complaints of some parents. They expect the tournament to be better, even the best, as the years go by. But that hasn’t happened.
Will the amiable Milo sports executive Pat Goc-ong look into this?

Congratulations to Via Café’s Ciara Carreon Mellejor for winning a silver medal in the recent RRD-SZD Taekwondo Tournament. I thought you are just a soft-spoken coffee shop staff along Mt. Apo Street.
