Balweg “The Davao Hitman” Bangoyan won back his WBC international superbantamweight crown after beating Raymond Sermona in the “Bakbakan Sa Manila” last September 12 at the San Andres Sports Complex, Manila.
Bangoyan kept Seroma at bay with jabs and blocked his foe’s strong right punches to his head and body.
The Davao Hitman, Jose Abad Santos Mayor Zander Khan’s top fighter, fought back with a barrage of punches to win by majority decision. Two judges, Epi Almeda and Rey Danseco, scored the bout 116-112 and 115-113, respectively, for Bangoyan while while judge Gene del Bianco saw the bout at 114-all.
In the other bouts, Davao’s Datu Dave Day scored a split decision win over Vergel Nebran of the Elorde Stable in the superbantamweight division while Henry Benito lost to Elorde’s Renan Trongco in the junior flyweight class after being knocked out in the third round.
The fights were promoted by the Elorde International Productions of Gabriel “Bebot” Elorde, Jr. in coordination with Mayor Alfredo Lim of Manila.
Bangoyan lost his belt after failing to fight a mandatory bout after dethroning Sande Otieno of Kenya on October 10, 2008 at the RMC gym in Davao City. MPB with philboxing
