Golfers of the Week: Palos team rules Sta.Lucia Tour

Diemy Monedero and Carlito Dublan sizzled with 191 total points to emerge senior’s champion in the Davao leg of the Sta.Lucia Golf Tour on September 4 -5 at the Rancho Palos Golf and Country Club.
The tandem defeated Tomas Joson III and Peregrin de Guzman II of Lakewood Golf and Country Club who came up with 185. Palos Verdes’ Modesto Castillo and Randolf Cadiogan had 177 points to place third.
Monedero, a Navy captain, and Dublan, who runs Elite Properties and Land Development, helped Rancho Palos Verdes Golf and Country Club post an 11-point win overall against Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club, 48 against 37.
Alta Vista Golf and Country Club followed at third spot with 34 points, Summit Point at fourth with 27, Royal Tagaytay at fifth with 24, Orchard at sixth with 20, Beverly Place at seventh at with 18, Lakewood at eighth with 16 and Caliraya Springs at ninth with 10 points. 
Palos bets Paul Anthony Dakudao and Andrew Bautista took the Group 1 crown with 187 points, beating teammates Ronald Galicia and Edgardo Gilles who scored 184 points while Summit Point’s Mike Poobalan and Alan Alegre settled at third place with 183 points.
Alta Vista of Cebu’s Arnel Kwan and Leo Saberon and Peter Po II and Bobby Barria finished 1-2 in Group 2 with 179 and 176 points, respectively while Palos’ Eugenio Serado Jr. and Louie Brodeth landed at third place with 175 points.
In the individual class, Alta Vista’s Enrico Solon beat Palos’ Alfonso Marcelino via tie break after both scored identical 98 points in the championship division.
Ronald Galicia bagged the class A for Palos with 104 points, a four-point win over teammate Paul Anthony Dakudao. Alta Vista’s Alexandre Yeo tallied 97 points to take the third spot.
Archimedes Moralizon ruled class B for Palos with 98 points and Serado submitted 94 points for second place while Royal Tagaytay’s Alexander Go managed to take the second runner-up honors with 92 points.
Beverly Place Golf and Country Club’s Michael John Mangio lifted the champion’s trophy in class C with 93 points while teammate Rene Mangio defeated Caliraya Springs’ Jose Aspuria via tiebreak after both finished 84 points.
Eagle Ridge’s Sergio Fojas fired an 82 for the class D title while Lakewood’s Efren de Leon scored an 80 for second place and Royal Tagaytay’s Nelson Chua tallied 77 points for the third spot.
Lakewood’s de Guzman edged Monedero of Palos in the senior’s division, 98 to 97 while Castillo, also of Palos, wound up at third with 95 points.
