The City Mayor’s Office basketball team hardly missed the services of its absent wards as skipper Christopher “Bong” Go carried the load to give the Mayor’s squad another title.
The sweet-shooting Go lifted CMO past the Muslim All-Stars, 119 – 107, in Game Five to clinch the Season 1 title of their Best-of-Seven series, October 18, at the Davao City Recreation Center.
Go, executive assistant to Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, scored 34 points, including crucial baskets in the pay-off period to help CMO cop the title on 4-1 win-loss final card.
Ariel Bonleon, Ryan Escudero and Eugene Labor had 20, 16 and 14 points, in that order, for CMO which missed the services of Roy Bangkas, Dindo Pastor and Dioven Braga.
Skipper Mhing Distancia paced the Muslim All-Stars with 31 markers while Modjer Sansangan had 18.
Go’s lay-up and baseline triple midway of the final canto gave the Mayor’s men a double-digit lead, 101-90, that put the wards of Councilor Halila Sudagar at bay. [pr]
