Clean Slate – Inday Sara Cup, DCCII sportsfest, Mayor Gavina

by Moses Billacura

The Inday Sara Cup has drawn the participation of eight teams.
Land Transportation Office, City Mayor’s Office, General Services Office, Pagcor, Muslim All-Stars, IBP Lawyers, Sangguniang Panlungsod and Davao City Water District cagers are ready for action.
Some players have been fine-tuning their skills by playing friendly competitions while some have yet to find vacant time to create their plays. I find this tournament exciting to watch, aside from the ongoing Gaisano South Cup at the Gaisano Sky gym.

The Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (DCCII) is holding two tournaments this month.
The 5th Businessman’s Golf Tournament on November 7 at the Rancho Palos Golf and Country Club is being organized as a way of thanking the various supporters of the Chamber and raise funds for the various projects that will benefit Dabawenyos.
Chamber president Sim Marfori hopes that the charity golf tournament will attract hundreds of golfers, who are mostly businessmen, in order to back the continuing work of the organization that has worked very hard to uplift the condition of Davao businessmen.
Right after the tournament, Pagcor Davao is hosting the awarding ceremony.

I accidentally met former Panabo City mayor Rey P. Gavina at a local hotel.
He still looks fine. The last time I saw him was before they left for Indonesia with his team to the BIMP-EAGA Friendship Games in Indonesia.
Mayor Gavina has been very active in the conduct of local sports competitions in Panabo City and because of that they were able to discover talents who are fit for international competitions.
Of course, I did not ask him if he’s running again for mayor next year. We just talked about his recent visit to Warrior Roberts, my uncle-in-law, in the U.S. and told him that his goddaughter, my “commander” and chief Lady Marjorie, is doing just fine in Canada.
Just recently, I asked some vendors in Panabo about rumors that the former police officer wants to head Panabo next year. Well, some confirmed, some did not utter a word. But majority of them said they want Mayor Gavina in 2010. Hmmm, I pose no opposition to that, not that I don’t like Mayor Joe Silvosa.
