Golfer of the Week – Joji Jude Lumanog

For Joji Jude Lumanog, running the affairs of Barangay Cabantian is no ordinary task.
Everyday, you hear people complain, some even go directly to his home to address their various concerns. Problems of different degrees are the daily menu for him.
That normally happens if you are the barangay captain. But he does not mind for he knows that, that is the life of a public servant.
Where does he get the needed break from all of these? The answer is the golf course.
The golf course is a wonderful sight for this barangay chieftain, who happens to be a lawyer.
And being a lawyer, he gets invited by his fellow lawyers, long-time friends in the profession, to get the respite but engaging in a sport that will provide relief after a week-long work.
Usually, a Saturday is a perfect time to play, renew friendship and enjoy the company of buddies.
There is no talk of work, just enjoying the day, looking at the green fairway, hearing the chirping of the birds, looking at smiling faces of friends. And these are things you cannot find inside the barangay hall.
Atty.Lumanog is just one of the members of BULDOG, a group composed of Businessman, Lawyers and Doctors who do not only play but compete against each other, to make the day more challenging.
The BULDOG holds also a monthly competition to accumulate funds that will be used for various community projects at the end of the year.
Atty.Lumanog is proud to be a part of the group aside from being active in the Davao Lodge No.149 of the Masonic District XI-A as committee chair on jurisprudence.
Gone are the days when the golf club belongs only to the rich and the famous. These days, the golf course has also become suited to the lawyer and barangay captain.[Moses P. Billacura]
