About a year ago, he was just encouraged to take up golf as a sport. Republic Biscuit Corporation’s Davao top honcho Amado So did a lot of encouragement, then seconded by his son Ian.
Blame it on the two Mr.So, he got addicted to golf.
“Na addict noon ko,” said 18-year-old Marc Louh, who took the sport with his dad Antonio, Rebisco’s main man in Koronadal, and his younger brother Shoti.
In October 2008, Marc started hitting balls and received training from Marc Lopez, one of Davao’s famous golfers.
Daddy Antonio spends his time in Koronadal to run the affairs of Rebisco but comes every weekend, he gladly plays golf with his two sons.
“Mao na amo bonding sa akong mga anak,” he said.
Marc, a business management student at Ateneo de Davao University, lives a very normal life by going to school and playing DOTA during free time, but golf has become more than a passion.
“Basta maka bakante, mo dula na ug golf, samot na kung holidays,” said a smiling
Marc, who would sometimes wish that when he wakes up in the morning, it is already weekend or a holiday.
His father Antonio, however, cautioned him that it would be best to finish his studies and after that maybe think of having a career in golf.
At 18, Marc has shown a potential with victories in the Ondoy Charity Golf Tournament and the recent 10th Monthly Medal Tournament of Rancho Palos Verdes Golf and Country Club.
“Mangarap man pud,” said Marc when asked about the possibility of turning pro when the right time comes.
His dad Antonio posed no opposition to that but repeated that finishing his business management course is a priority at this time.
Who knows, Marc might follow Marc Lopez’s footsteps and in due time become one of Davao’s famous golfers. [Moses P. Billacura]
