Golfer of the Week – Soc Cadayona

He is a civil engineer by profession and a top notch golfer.
Soc Cadayona is one of the familiar names every time you step inside the Apo Golf and Country Club.
Soc was the skipper of the Apo Club in the 62nd Philippine Airlines Interclub Seniors Championship last February that landed a respectable second place behind Mactan Island Golf Club.
Apo had a dismal performance in the Bacolod edition last year and Soc, named team captain, formed a team composed of Amado Atilano, Chito Nucum and Francisco Leonor Sr. that delivered the goods.
Despite his busy schedule handling various projects, the engineer-golfer took the time to map out a plan to redeem their sorry loss in Bacolod. Apo is known to produce top notch golfers. In fact, many of its caddies were recruited to play for rich Luzon-based golf cubs.
Engineering a play and distributing the players on the day of the competition are not an easy task for the team captain.
Soc has to make sure that his players are in good condition and away from distractions because they are playing at home. He double checks the needed approach to every game.
Good thing, the Apo players were playing in familiar territories, an advantage, although the Cebuanos played steady golf in four days to capture the crown.
Soc plays golf in order to keep himself fit and to keep in touch with nature. The civil engineer deals with machines, people and the noise of ongoing constructions, only to find a peaceful place at the golf course.
Golf is always the best therapy for busy professionals. And Soc makes sure that he has the time to go to the club and keep in touch with nature and friends.  [Moses P. Billacura]
