For the city’s oldest running club, only the longest-serving chief executive can match the longevity stride for stride. Thus, in its induction of officers last December 6, the Sunday Runners Club had no less than Mayor Rodrigo Duterte as inducting officer.
Mayor Duterte, whose tenure of public service has run two decades, swore in Dr. Oscar Escudero, who himself is now on his third term of office as president of the 26-year old club.
Also sworn into office were VP Jonathan Santes, Sec. Momong Robillo, Treas. Teddy Hernandez, Aud. Peter Wee, Atty. Albert Aportadera, Dr. Rolando Chiu, Pepito Moo and Nanding Obrero as directors.
Mayor Rody cited SunRun for its role in promoting health consciousness in the city. He emphasized the need to promote the no-smoking ordinance of the city in order to provide a healthy environment not only for running buffs but for everyone.
He urged the club to bring the advocacy of health consciousness to schools and encourage more children to get involved in running.
