Ateneo de Davao and Holy Child eliminated their respective rivals in the semfinal round of the ongoing 5th Mayor Rody-Inday Sara/Holcim Philippines Inter-High School Football Tournament at the Tionko field.
Ateneo proved too much for DCNHS Columbia Computer Center, 8-2, as Derrico Gabriel Diamante sparkled with conversions at the 30th, 57th, 61st and 77th minute marks and John Ryven Lumabao rose to the occasion by rolling in two goals in the fifth and 54th minutes. David Angelo Diamante (71st) and Patrick Francis Lim (18th) contributed the other goals.
Raymart Palabrica and Rocky Custodio prevented a scoring drought by scoring one goal each.
The Holy Child Reds continued their success and sent a clear message to the Ateneans that they are a squad to reckon with after posting a 9-0 victory over hapless Emar Learning Center.
The Reds,showing no mercy, had Jomar Acedo finding the net at the 23rd, 43rd, 50th and 65th minutes and Alexis Dayondon finished the game with a hat-trick (39th, 58th, 74th) while Imardino Polo and Renz Rhey Napuran tallied one goal apiece.
A total of 10 teams took part in the tournament backed by Holcim Philippines, a regular backer of the sports development efforts of Mayor Rody Duterte and Vice Mayor Sara Duterte. [MPB]
