It looks like there is still more work to be done for the bikers to enjoy the recent passage of the Bike Ordinance.
Councilor Leo Avila, the author of the ordinance, said that funds will still be raised to create bike lanes and for narrow roads to be widened.
For years, Davao bikers, especially the group of the Davao Pobre Bikers Association headed by 1991 SEA Games gold medalist Dominic Carpio, have been waiting for the passage of the proposal designed to protect bikers and promote the use of bikes to save fuel.
But this is a very good development for bike lovers and for those who would really want to save their hard-earned peso in these trying times.
Newsboys, in particular, movie film carriers, students, hundreds of them, will definitely be happy when this ordinance is fully implemented.
The biking days of old will soon be back and motorcycle sales could decline, who knows?
I’m excited to ride a bike again.
It will definitely bring back good memories.

The Davao City Water District, Matina Boys, Tadeco and Tagum teams barged into the Top Four of the 8th Araw ng Dabaw Fast Pitch Softball Tournament at the UM Matina campus.
We are very fortunate that Tadeco of Panabo City and Tagum City, as well as teams from Digos, have not wavered in supporting amateur softball development in Davao.
Despite the expenses they incurred all these years, their managers continued to support their players and bring them to Davao and compete with Davao City-based squads.
Maintaining their teams also means that softball players who just earned their college degrees can be absorbed and employed. We are happy to see that team managers were able to act as their patrons for them to land a good job while the playing season is off.
To the team managers and their bosses, thank you very much for your support to amateur softball development and to the players.

Our condolence to the family members of the late Dr.Rosa Santos-Munda who died on March 29 at the ripe age of 91—especially to classmate Carlos, whose faded jeans became his trademark at the Ateneo de Davao campus in the 90’s. Who can forget that outfit, Caloy? Anyway, condolence amigo.
