Golfer of the Week – Nigel Fisher

Nigel Fisher came to Davao City last year as the new general manager of The Marco Polo Davao.
He brought with him his more than two decades of management experience in top class hotels and resorts that included the Four Seasons Hotel in Sydney and Tanjung Rhu Resort in Langkawi.
The graduate of Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne has so far impressed the hotel staff with his dedication and mentoring in order to bring out the best in them.
Marco Polo Davao is located in the heart of the city and offers elegant rooms and suites, the best international buffet, the perfect Eagles Bar (home of the weekly Club 888 Media Forum), the relaxing Lazuli spa, an inviting pool and fitness facility, plus the Lobby Lounge where the sound of music is at its best.
Aside from what it offers best, Fisher strongly believes in buidling a strong partnership with world-class culinary schools in Davao City, pointing out that student chefs must be given the opportunity to learn from real-world experience.
Marco Polo Davao accommodates 40 internship opportunities every three months for them to get the needed exposure inside a world-class hotel.
But running a world-class hotel has also the opportunities of getting some breaks, and that includes playing golf.
Playing the sport gives the general manager a respite from the day-to-day operations and playing at the world-class golf clubs like the Rancho Palos Golf and Country Club and Apo Golf and Country Club fittingly suits the man at the helm of managing a world-class hotel.
And after a round of golf, Fisher gets refreshed and being back to hotel work gives him renewed energy to deliver the best to their guests.  [MOSES P. BILLACURA]
