After three days of competition, Amiya Residential and Golf Resort Team bested 11 other tough squads to claim the 2010 Dynasty Cup at the Rancho Palos Golf and Country Club.
But the route to victory was not easy.
Amiya Team tied with Dream Team in Day 1’s best ball scramble format with 18.5 points, apiece and lost to Eagle Master I in Day 2’s greensomes format, 16 to 20.
In Day 3’s one ball twosome format, Amiya did not score well and landed only at third place with only 16 points as Korean Dream Team of Park Ok Hee, Jeong Sang Hyun, Song Kyeong Ho, Han Gum Hee, Park Kang Wook, Park Young Ran, Cho Seong Ho, Kim Gye Sun, Huh Hoon and Choi Yon Hee topped the contest with 20 points and followed by Dream Team with 17 points.
The performance of group captain Bobby Wee, Andrew Bautista, Sherwin Bahani, Noel Yango, Faisal and Kureish Samanodi, Ed Guevarra, Joseph Go, Bill Larousse, Marc Lopez and Atty.Manny Nitorreda in Day 1 helped the team escape with a victory against the Koreans by just 1.5 points when they totalled 50.5 points.
Trailing closely too was the Dream Team of Jeff Ramirez, Vince Arcenas, Vincent and Tony Gumapac, Monchit Mackay, General Franco, Ronald Galicia, Chris Tan, Benjie Senining and James Noel Morente with 46.5 points, then Eagle Master II with 44, Korean Red Heroes with 40, Tour Jacks with 38, Eagle Master I with 37, Tang Dynasty with 35, Grupo Verde with 31, F.H.M. with 30, Taliban with 29 and Godimaschik with 26 points.
“It was a tough contest, Amiya came out very lucky,’ said Rancho Palos Golf and Country Club manager Albert Casenas.
Club members hold the yearly tournament as a tune-up competition for a more bigger tournament, the Sta.Lucia Tour in September.
“We look forward to their better performance once we complete the team line-up,” said Casenas.[Moses P. Billacura]
