Jhogie Cabaral of the DFA Black Knights won the most valuable player honors in the six years old and under division of the 2010 Mayor Inday Sara and Vice Mayor Rody Duterte-Kadayawan Age-Group Football Tournament to lead four other MVP’s in an awarding ceremony, August 28, at the DFA Football House.
Bryle Cuenca emerged as MVP in the eight years old and under, Robert Wilson in the 10 under, Javier Romero-Salas in the 12 under and Mikah Corrales in the girl’s division.
Others who received special awards were Jenny Zamora (6 under), Ales Verkleij (8 under), Kahlil Jikiri (10 under), James Sambalod (12 under) and Patricia Francisco as best strikers, Joseph Rellama Jr. (6 under), Jasper Lim (8 under), Patrick Lanzaderaz (10 under), Jed Diamante (12 under), Jikay Alcover (girls) as best midfielders, Adil Amaikurut (6 under), Victor Matalam (8 under), Carl Pacturanan (10 under), Javier Romero-Salas (12 under) and Mikah Corrales (girls) as best defenders, Jhogie Cabaral (6 under), Vinel Budino (8 under), Miles Socias (10 under), Gabriel Leyson (12 under), Sanaa Jikiri (girls) as best goalkeepers.
The DFA Black Knights dominated the six and eight under divisions while Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School ruled the 10 under at the expense of Ateneo Blue in the 10 under while the Ateneans avenged their teammates’ loss when they stopped Our Lady of Lourdes in the 12 under finals.
Ateneo defeated Don Marcelino in the girl’s finals while S.O.S. Children’s Village settled in third place.
A total of 76 teams took part in the month-long tournament as part of the Kadayawan Sports Festival organized by the Davao Football Association with the support of City Government of Davao. [MOSES P. BILLACURA]
