Holy Child, Montserrat booters overcome rivals in Ungab Cup

Holy Child School and Montserrat booters turned back their separate foes to lead in the team standings of the ongoing Football Liga ng Kabataan: Congressman Isidro T. Ungab Cup at the Mintal Elementary School grounds.
Holy Child edged Medvil, 2-1 to earn its third victory and totalled its output to nine points, five points ahead of Montserrat and Mintal schools in the 10 years old and under category.
Medvil Football Club and Tacunan were tied at third place with three points, apiece after coming up with one win and one loss.
Montserrat took the leadership in the 11 to 13 years old class after blanking Catalunan Grande, 5-0 to sport six points.
Medvil trailed at second with four points along with Catalunan Grande, Mintal and Holy Child.
Davao Football Association general secretary Erwin E. Protacio said that the Ungab Cup is organized to create awareness of the sport in the third district of Davao City and for kids to have the best diversion program that helps promote health and fitness.
“This is also one way of scouting for more talented and young players who will be representing Davao in future national tournaments,” said Protacio.
The competition, organized by DFA in partnership with the Department of Human Kinetics of UP Mindanao, was launched last August 7 at the Deca HOmes Country Resort field in Tacunan, Tugbok District.[MOSES P. BILLACURA]
