One of the very active members of the Thank God Its Saturday (T.G.I.S.) Golf Club is Toffee Tionko.
Toffee usually plays once or twice a week on weekdays, but does not want to miss his regular Saturday game with his fellow club members at the Apo Golf and Country Club starting at 6:30 a.m.
Why? It’s a no-brainer. Because he always enjoys their company.
Better call it right chemistry.
Toffee manages the family-owned Bagobo House Hotel on Ilustre Street and makes sure that everything is running smoothly, especially their coffee shop called Agong Cafe where one can also find the best breakfast meal in the heart of the city. It opens at 6 a.m. sharp.
He takes pride in the fact that their 35-room hotel offers reasonable rates in exchange for the usual amenities conducive to relaxation—a home away from home, as it were.
Work has always been part of Toffee’s routine, for the simple reason that he needs to earn more than enough for his family’s needs and for him to be able to afford to play a sport that is getting to be more and more expensive.
Aside from going into action for T.G.I.S. in team competitions, his golf club also taps him to suit up for them in tournaments like the prestigious annual PAL Interclub Tournament.
And for that reason, Toffee would always strive to improve on his game because, just like anybody else, he fnds more enjoyment in being competitive.
He always breaks into a big smile when he is manages to outshine his friends in a friendly game.
