Southern Mindanao’s top college and university athletes and coaches are 100 percent healthy and ready for action for the 2011 PRISAA National Collegiate Games on April 8 to 15 in Zamboanga City.
A total of 308 students and their coaches will leave Davao City on April 6 after attending a 9 a.m. mass at the University of the Immaculate Conception-Bonifacio Campus.
The delegates will be billeted at the Pilar College, just a short walk from the Joaquin F. Enriquez Memorial Sports Complex, the main venue of the games.
The Southern Mindanaoans are seeing action in athletics, badminton, baseball, basketball, beach volleyball, boxing, chess, dancesports, football, judo, karatedo, lawn tennis, sepak takraw, softball, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo and volleyball.
Adelle Nicole Yu of Davao Doctor’s College is entered in the vocal solo contest while Joanah Mae Ponce of San Pedro College is competing in the Mutya event.
Jose Maria College, University of Mindanao, University of the Immaculate Conception, Holy Cross of Davao College, Davao Doctor’s College, San Pedro College, University of the Philippines-Mindanao, DMMA College of Southern Philippines, Cor Jesu College, Brokenshire College, Agro-Industrial Foundation College of the Philippines and Emar College have combined forces by sending their most outstanding athletes culled from the regional eliminations last January.
Edgardo “Bing” Grandeza, UIC’s sports director, is leading the delegation in a new role as regional executive director, taking the old post from long-time executive director Joaquin “Boy” Sarabia, UM sports director, who now serves as assistant executive director.
