Following an emergency meeting of YMCA Davao’s Board of Directors, Atty. Antonio Partoza Jr., President, formally agreed to reschedule its car raffle draw date. A large-scale fund raising campaign, the project is aimed at helping finance the huge building development venture of the YMCA of Davao Inc. in this city.
Initially scheduled on March 16, 2011, to coincide with the Araw ng Davao celebration, the car raffle draw is now officially reset to June 12, to catch the significance of our independence day.. Raffle Co-chairs Jose Custodio and Leoncio Villa-Abrille said that the price of each ticket remains at One Thousand (P1, 000.00) Pesos only. Honda City 1.3 A MT stays as the grand prize, while the other published prizes remain the same.
The other major prizes are a Honda Motorcycle, Model XR 200-200 CC, and a slim 42” LCD Panasonic Plasma Television. Arrays of 17 other consolation prizes go with the grand raffle. A non-stock, non-profit civic organization, YMCA hopes to provide a 3-storey dormitory-type hostel in Davao City, and eventually contribute to the City’s tourism initiatives, as well. As reported by the building & property project chair Engr. Fernando Ongkingco, Jr. the proposed building will also house a gym, which will be readily available to the young people, notably students including out-of-school youth. Upon its completion, the local YMCA hostel can provide the locals and international budget-conscious travelers with decent yet affordable lodging facilities.
