If you notice the caps of lady professional golfers in the LPGA Tour, they wear a specially-made logo with Japanese characters that reads “Marekuna Nippon” or “Never Give Up Japan”.
Three Japanese professional golfers have established a fund-raising project to bring relief to earthquake, tsunami and nuclear meltdown affected Japan in the hope that while they are on tour to fulfill their commitments to play, they would at the same time raise money and awareness that help is much needed by their countrymen back home.
Ai Miyazato, who last year became No.1 in the Women’s World Golf Rankings, Mika Miyazato and Momoko Ueda designed the logo and started distributing them to other LPGA players who also decided to chip in for the cause. She admitted her thoughts are always with the victims that has also given her some difficulty concentrating on her game.
But she hopes that they would score some victories in the tour and deliver some good news back home.
Mika hopes that they could provide encouragement to the victims as they continue on the tour and Momoko, who was on a Tokyo highway when she felt the earth shake, said she will do her best on the tour and continue to reach out to more golfers to join their cause. [MPB with WWW.FIRSTGIVING.COM]
