Dabawenya Nicezza Petecio lost to Myanmar’s Thet Htar San and failed to move to the quarterfinal round of the 2011 AIBA Women’s Junior and Youth Boxing Championship, April 26, at the Kepez Belediye Kapali Spor Salonu facility in Antalya, Turkey.
The Dabawenya from Calinan was a strong favorite in the 48-kilogram division but could not find her rhythm and lost on points, 15 to 31.
San’s performance vastly improved after joining the “Road to Antalya” training camp last April 11 to 21. The camp was participated in by 23 boxers from 13 countries and Christy Lynn Halbert of the U.S. acted as head coach and In Ho Cheon of the Republic of Korea as assistant coach.
On the other hand, Petecio’s teammate Wennie Cline Verano was also unlucky in the 49 to 51-kilogram class when she lost on point to India’s Sanasri Brahma, 10 to 30.//////////////////////
