Forget about the punching incident and the headaches brought by the flooding and relocation of victims, plus the daily grind of City Hall work.
Mayor Inday Sara Zimmerman Duterte took a new role as coach of the Green Team in the City Executives Sportsfest recently, a role that brought a lot of joy.
It’s nice to know that the lady mayor has found the time from her busy schedule to get into action in the sportsfest that involved playing against the Red Team (I was expecting it to be Pink Team) of acting city administrator Atty.Lyka Lopez. Who won? That doesn’t matter because they all had the same pursuit, to enjoy sports and think of nothing else but fun.
The City executives saw action in basketball, volleyball, badminton, billiards and some parlor games, a move that saw a more cohesive and stronger team of public leaders and servants.
Mayor Inday was in her lighter side, a mood that was actually good for the heart, body and soul.

Word came to this corner that the Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) Davao City Chapter is sailing smoothly these days.
With two Marias at the helm, the way I look at it, PRISAA-DC can take on any big wave.
University of the Immaculate Conception president Rev.Mother Ma.Assumpta David, R.V.M., Ph.D now heads the association and the secretary-general happens also to be another Maria, Ma.Lita Montalban, president of the Emar Human and Environmental College of Davao.
The PRISAA-DC Chapter has been the driving force of many of our college athletes to become better players. Thanks to the annual PRISAA National Championships where our Davao players get a crack in the national level leading to their recruitment by bigger and well-funded universities in the National Capital Region.
It really doesn’t matter is we lose our talented players to Manila-based schools because releasing them would give them the opportunity to play in bigger and tougher leagues like the NCAA and UAAP. Some get lucky by getting recruited to the RP team and represent the country in the SEA Games.
That’s the nature of an athlete’s life.
The PRISAA-DC Chapter has provided them the opportunities to become better as athletes. Thankfully, we saw them finish their education and some even went on to further studies.
Although we know of some who, instead of doing good in big universities in Manila, did not do well in their studies and lost their sports scholarships.
Anyway, Davao athletes have started training for next year’s National Championships in Cebu City but first, they have to win in the city and regional eliminations.
After that, Mo. Ma.Assumpta, ma’am Ma. Lita and the rest of the officers will take care of the rest.

An HCDC Diamond Jubilee Health Run is scheduled early morning at 4:30 a.m. followed by a Holy Mass at 9:30 a.m., then other activities, including the election of officers and a Fellowship Lunch are also scheduled.
To all R.V.M. Sisters and P.M.E. Fathers of Quebec, whose lovely city and people I have come to deeply appreciate, congratulations!
