The biggest futsal event of the year gets going today as the Kia Rio Cup Davao Interclub Futsal Tournament will be the centrepiece event until the weekend at The Annex of SM City Davao with six clubs contending for the bragging rights as the top futsal club this part of the country.
Club Futbol di Garelli, Alia Orange FC, Crocs FC, SVDC FC, Tadeco FC-Panabo City, and Phl Rabies will be disputing the Men’s Second Division title at stake in this exclusive four-day event that brings the fast and exciting football variation inside Davao’s biggest mall. Belisario FC could bring the total to seven teams but the team has yet to confirm.
“It’s fast-paced and it’s exciting. Kia is proud to once more attach its soccer-identified brand to local football,” said Tobi Ang, vice president of AB&T Resources, the official Kia dealer in Davao.
The Kia Rio Hatchback will be on display during the entire duration of the event organized by Bravetower Events Promotions in partnership with SM City Davao. The same Kia car was launched during the Kia Rio Cup featuring the Philippine Azkals and the visiting South Korea team Inchon early this year at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Kia is also the sponsor of the recent Euro Cup 2012, Europe’s biggest football event, aside from being a regular supporter of the Azkals.
“We are partnering with Bravetower for this football event as part of our effort to elevate the sport to a level that’s best appreciated by the fans. Bringing futsal to the mall is one sure way to appreciate this beautiful game,” added Paco Mendoza, manager of Kia Davao.
The men’s division will play double round robin eliminations on Thursday until Saturday with the top four squads advancing to the semifinals on Sunday.
