Pacquiao mulls charges vs Doc

Manny Pacquiao’s camp is mulling the possibility of filing charges against Private Hospitals Association of the Philippines president Dr. Rustico Jimenez over statements saying that the eight-division world boxing champion may be showing early signs of Parkinson’s Disease.
“When Manny and I return from Israel, I will proceed to America and I will consult with our attorneys David Marroso of O’Melveny and Myers in Los Angeles,” said Pacquiao adviser Michael Koncz.
Pacquiao is set to return sometime next week.
Jimenez, a neurologist, had earlier called for Pacquiao’s retirement following his shocking knokout loss to Juan Manuel Marquez last December, but clarified that he never examined Pacquiao and that he simply made an opinion out of concern.
Pacquiao himself, in an interview with boxing website BoxingScene.com, said that he is 100-percent healthy following the normal results of a CT Scan in Las Vegas and an MRI scan at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center days after the fight.
His doctor Regina Bagsic likewise said in an interview with News5 that she hasn’t seen any sign of Parkinson’s in the boxer.
Meantime, the Paccquiao camp says there ought to be mandatory random drug testing in the event a fifth fight between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez is made.
A member of Team Pacquiao voiced this out a recently as the possibility of a fifth clash between the rivals began to make the rounds again.
The Pacquiao ally who asked not to be named said it would be much better that Marquez and even Pacquiao agree to random testing following the sudden ending to the fourth fight between the two last December 8 in Las Vegas.
“Rumors that Marquez was on PED was hot topic,” he said.
Even the fellow, who had a few chances to see Marquez up close in the final days leading to the fight, expressed surprise over the massive physique of the 39-year-old Mexican.
“I got the opportunity to see him and I could not believe what I was seeing. He had muscles shaped like big watermelons and I was asking myself if what I was seeing was right.”
Marquez went on to post one of boxing’s most vicious victories, a one-punch knockout of the Filipino icon in the sixth round before a stunned sellout crowd at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
“They said that it was a product of hard training and science but I don’t know. Maybe it’s true but I would like that random drug testing be done should they fight again.”
Marquez hasn’t decided yet whether he would continue boxing since his wife wants him to hang up his gloves.
Pacquiao said he would like to see a fifth clash.
Promoter Bob Arum said a fifth showdown should be a dandy.
