City Treasurer’s Office (CTO) leaned on its final period blitz to overwhelm Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP), 76 – 73, in the ongoing action of the 76th Araw ng Dabaw – DACHEA Basketball Tournament (Category A) at the Davao City Recreation Center yesterday.
CTO came out firing on all cylinders in the fourth canto, outscoring SP, 27-16, to pull away with its third straight win in as many games.
Tom Miranda played the hero’s role for the CTO’s big comeback win as the left-handed forward came through with 39 points. Albert Paloma chipped in 13 baskets.
The SP was leading until the final canto onslaught of the CTO dribblers who found their mark at the right time. SP hotshot Christopher “Bong” Go scored 32 points, including five baskets from behind the arc.
But the sweet-shooting executive assistant of Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte was unable to get enough support to turn the game around. Art Atablanco and Bong Aleman had 11 points apiece for SP which dropped to a 1-2 win-loss record.
In the other match, General Services Office (GSO) hammered City Engineers Office (CEO), 132 – 89.
The tournament, which is one of the sporting highlights of this year’s Araw ng Davaw festival, is sanctioned by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) Region XI office.
