Durians show way

Perennial chamion Davao City fished seven golds at the pool and that is all that they needed to stay on top of the heap after three days of of hostilities in this year’s Davao Region Athletic Association (DAVRAA) Meet in Davao del Norte.
The Durians showed the way while the host Pioneers are far behind at fourth place.
As of 3pm today, the Durians got nine golds, 11 silvers and seven bronze medals ranking them number one over nine other contingents. The Durians capitalized on a seven gold haul at the pool to go one up over second-running Davao del Sur Cobras with 8 golds, 2 silvers and 2 bronzes.
Digos City is in third place with a 5-1-3 harvest while host Davao del Norte has 3-4-4 after three days. Rounding up the standings areIGACOS (2-3-4), Davao Oriental ((2-1-2), Panabo City (1-5-0), Compostela Valley (0-3-4), Mati City (0-2-2) and Tagum City (0-1-4).
In Day 3 action, Davao del Norte Pioneers dominated the Davao del Sur Cobras, 2-1, in Sepak Takraw to kickstart its gold medal campaign in the Davao Region Athletic Association (DAVRAA).
Third regu players Kingsly Jay Culanag, Mario Sagaldia and Charles Libatan-II carried the fight for the vaunted Pioneers.
“The day isn’t over yet”, said by Mario Sagaldia, a player from the pioneers reminding his troop not to be overwhelmed because their mission is to grab the gold.
In other events, Davao del Norte Pioneers finally hammered their way to grab a “W” against Mati City, 25-21 26-24, in elementary volleyball at the University of Mindanao Gymnasium in the ongoing 2013 Davao Region Athletic Association (DAVRAA) meet.Led by team captain Franklin Cuabong of Sto. Nino National High School, Talaingod, the Pioneers handed the Sea Eagles’ their second defeat. The Sea Eagles had one win over Davao Oriental yesterday.
It was the first win for the Pioneers who dropped two matches yesterday against Davao City Durians and Compostella Valley Golds.
“It’s a morale booster getting this win”, team captain Cuabong said in an interview after the game.
