Phoenix Petroleum, event partner of the Jr. NBA Regional Selection Camp in Davao recently, is proud to have produced four finalists from Davao City and six others from Bukidnon, Gen. Santos and Bacolod.
The ten promising basketball players were picked by coaches headed by Camp Director Sefu Bernard of NBA Asia in the second leg of the nationwide Jr. NBA camp. The Davao regional selection was attended by 499 aspiring Jr. NBA players aged 10-14 on April 1 and 2, 2013 at the University of Southeastern Philippines Gym.
Advancing to the National Camp are Paolo Coquilla, Mahloney Tarranza, Cornelio Reta, and John Cañete from Davao, Jan Gabriel Sobrevega and Jose Antiporda from Bacolod, John Lloyd Bernales and Lorenz Viajar from Bukidnon, Anthony Sistoza from General Santos and Earl Vincent Areola from Cagayan de Oro.
The finalists bested 30 other regional finalists and will represent the Mindanao region at the National Training Camp of the Jr. NBA in Manila. They were chosen for their all-around basketball skills and for how they exhibit the Jr. NBA core values of Sportsmanship, Teamwork, Attitude and Respect.
The Jr. NBA Davao regional selection camp culminated in the planting of 500 Narra seedlings in the 235 hectares, Malagos Watershed last April 3, 2013. It was participated by Phoenix Philippines Foundation together with the Jr. NBA, Davao City Water District, PNP, and Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary CGADSEM.
