‘Pistolero’ Go outguns ‘Firecracker’

PBA legends Jerry Codiñera and Kenneth Duremdes can only shake their head each time Bong Go lets loose a cord-ripping three-pointer.
Heading a squad composed of former PBA stars, Codiñera and Duremdes tried to impose their will inside but each time they score, Go comes back with a booming trey that hit them like a dagger.
After defeating collegiate stars in a PBA out-of-town game three-point contest three days ago, Go defeated a legitimate PBA shooting star this time in Bobby Jose, known as the PBA’s “Firecracker.”
Jose tried to engage Go in a shootout and in several sequence came up with an answer from beyond the arc on his way to a 33-point effort. But Go could not be denied that this was his night.
Final score for Go and Jose from the rainbow mark: 12-11.
With Go firing a dozen triples all game long, the City Mayors Office defeated the TESDA Team Trabaho, 113 – 107, in the preliminary game of the 78th Araw ng Davao Commercial Invitational Basketball Tournament at the Davao City Recreation Center Almendras Gym on Monday.
Go, who recently won the 2015 PBA On Tour Davao City Three Points Shootout contest, drained seven in the final half to carry the chores for the City Hall dribblers.

Jose, who was part of the San Miguel grand slam team, put up 33 points to pace the PBA legends who joined TESDA Chief Secretary Joel Villanueva in advancing the cause of Tech-voc in countrywide basketball exhibition games as part of TESDA’s 20th anniversary celebrations.
Dindo Pastor and JR De Guzman chipped in 15 points apiece for the City Hall dribblers.
CMO crawled back in the pay off period behind Go, the trusted aid of Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, who shot well in the field in variety of ways, including the dagging three pointer that finished the legends off.
Marlou Aquino scored 27 points as Duremdes and Codiñera had 25 and 14 respectively.
