Team Palban wins 1ST PDBC tourney

In quest for physical fitness, wellness, and commitment to continuous partnership with fellow professionals and other basketball enthusiasts from different sectors of the society, the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE), Davao City Chapter in cooperation with Davies Paints Philippines, Inc launched the 1st PICE Davies Basketball Club (PDBC) Tournament during the Kadayawan Festival 2015 celebration.
Club members comprise professionals coming from different government agencies (City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), City Engineers Office (CEO), Office of the City Building Official (OCBO), Davao City Water District (DCWD), City Legal Office (CLO), DPWH – Region & District office, City Planning and Development Coordinator (CPDO), City Treasurer’s Office (CTO), City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO), NAPOLCOM, private agencies, contractors, suppliers, selected guest and other institutions, majority members of the different Accredited Professional Organizations (APO): Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers, Inc., Davao City Chapter (PICE), Integrated Institute of Electrical Engineers (IIEE), United Architects of the Philippines (UAP), Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP), etc.
The PDBC working Committee include Engr. Dindo C. Corda, Engr. Felinee D. Cabrera, Engr. Sharon Angelica G. Bonguyan, MPA, Engr. Jimwell L. Bonguyan and Atty. Joseph Dominic S. Felizarta, CE.
Five teams competed, headed by their team managers namely: Engr. Leonard S. Palban (Team Palban), Engr. Vicente C. Trangia, Jr. (Team Trangia), Engr. Hanford V. Menchavez (Team Menchavez), Atty. Joseph Dominic S. Felizarta, CE (Team Felizarta) and Alvin F. Alcantara (Team Alcantara) at Brokenshire College Covered Court, Madapo Hills, Davao City.
Team Palban emerged as the over- all champion over a 91 lead score versus Team Trangia with 73 points during the Championship Finals – Game 3 on February 02, 2016. Team members & top five leading scorers include Engr. Rolando Ebad (26pts), Aeron Ajoc (18pts), Julius Dan M. Abule (13pts), Alain Naul (11pts), Rey Salvaleon (10pts), Engr. Leonard S. Palban, Jobelo Garcia, Jeremy P. Makabenta, Jaime S. Maceda, Jr., Gerry O. Ranara, Jepoy Panlilio, Janber Sagrado and Nimrod Blanco.
Team Trangia, 1st runner up members include Engr. Vicente C. Trangia, Jr., Engr. Matt Ronald B. Tan, Engr. Julius A. Libre,Jr., Engr. Elmer C. Capili, Engr. Roberto L. Mamaril, Engr. Zosimo R. Hermina III, Engr. Rodolfo M. Rojas III, Engr. Dindo C. Corda, Sean Thomas G. Tan, Melchor C. Ramos, Jr., Larry R. Robles, Alex Siangco, Franklin E. Alcoy and Bonette Baylosis, while, Team Menchavez, 2nd runner up members include Engr. Hanford V. Menchavez, Engr. Ralph Emmanuelle S. Culi, Engr. Marloue S. Castillo, Engr. Felinee D. Cabrera, Engr. Ernie Carlo Ca-ay, Engr. Aldwin Ian A. Galleto, Engr. Noel Pascual, Jose Marie Almasa, Gio Guanzon, Juvan Matuguinas, Neil B. Jadraque, Roselier Lim, Reneboy N. Ariola and Ramel B. Francisco.
Medals and cash incentives were also given for other events like Best 3-point Shooter– Sean Thomas G. Tan, Best Blind Fold Shooters- Arnel J. Abao & Engr. Julius A. Libre, Jr., Best Half Court Shooters- Antonio E. Pardillo & Janber Sagrado and Best Free Throw Shooters – Antonio E. Pardillo & Arnel J. Abao. Tournament Chairman Engr. Jimwell L. Bonguyan said in his message, players will expect another set of conference for the second season this year.
