A total of thirty teams from all over Mindanao are expected to join the 5th Atty. Jong Guevarra Tatluhan Team Chess Tournament slated on Sept. 30 and October 1 at the New Toril Gym.
“Teams expected to see action are coming from Pagadian, Misamis Oriental, Cagayan de Oro, General Santos, Davao del Norte, Digos and Davao City,” said lawyer Jong Guevarra, an avid chess player and former varsity of the University of Mindanao.
“Each team composed of three players must only have an average rating of 2020,” said Guevarra.
They will be playing a seven round Swiss system format.
“This year’s cash prizes are bigger with at least 30 teams expected to join,” said Guevarra.
The team champion will earn P15,000 plus a trophy. The second placer will get P10,000, third 7,000, fourth p5,000 and fifth P3,000.
The event is supported by Rep. Alberto Ungab of the Third District and the Guevarra Law Office in coordination with the Toril Poblacion Barangay Council’s “Fiesta Saya” celebration.
It is also supported by the Jarden Del Roca Mountain Resort of Toril.
