Powerhouse Davao City virtually wrapped up another overall championship in the 2019 Davao Regional Athletic Association (DAVRAA) meet going into the final two days of action.
A day after a pall of gloom befell the four-day old sports conclave among the region’s elementary and secondary athletes with the death of a 12-year old volleyball player from Davao Oriental, Davao City silently pulled away from the rest of the field leaving the outcome practically sealed. The Durians have amassed an insurmountable margin in the medal board with 120 gold medals, 86 silvers and 39 bronzes.
Hadia P. Eronico, a 12-year-old elementary volleyball athlete, died late Wednesday due to complication of an illness.
Department of Education (DepEd) 11 spokesperson Jenielito “Dodong” Atillo confirmed the death of Eronico, who plays volleyball for the Davao Oriental girls elementary team in the ongoing Davao Region Athletic Association (Davraa) 2019.
Eronico, a resident of Ilangay, Lupon, Davao Oriental, reportedly expired around 7:45 p.m. of January 30 at Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC).
