TAGUM City, Davao del Norte–In a bid to surpass its 26 gold medal haul last year, the defending champion Davao City arnisadors got an early harvest of two gold medals that goes with a silver and a bronze on Monday in the Batang Pinoy 2019 Mindanao Finals arnis competition at the CityMall Entertainment Area.
10-year old Aethan Fujita of Magallanes Elementary School delivered the first gilt for Davao City after winning the boys anyo solo baston non-traditional individual division while Jollah Baruiz, a 12-year old student of Davao City National High School, scored the second gold medal by dominating the boy’s anyo solo baston traditional category.
The silver medal is courtesy of Ariane Kaye Parami also of Magallanes Elementary School while Ayesha Tomakin took home a bronze medal.
“Lisud na apason tung sa Batang Pinoy sa Oroquietta namo kay 26 gold medals ang amoang nakuha pero paningkamutan kay naa pamay labanan,” Davao City’s coach Jay Barreña said, pertaining to the ongoing padded stick fight division that formally opened yesterday. (Adam B. Morrell)
