A 17-year-old academic achiever shocked the crowd after bagging the University of Mindanao (UM) Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) P.E. Olympics badminton tournament title over much-experienced opponents on Monday, March 11 at the University of Mindanao Gym.
With a very minimal athletic experience, Patricia Shecaniah Morrell Braganza, a consistent topnotcher of the Bachelor of Education strand, pulled off a surprise after annihilating the heavy favorites from the Bachelor of Accounting, Business and Management (ABM), and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) in the women’s singles division.
Patricia, or fondly called Pat-Pat by the people close to her, entered the competition just for completion and fun. Little did she know that she will be the next badminton champion in her department.
For the coming department meet, Pat-Pat will represent HUMMS department and the rest of the winners in their respective sports.
