Oh, what a feeling.
Presidential Management Staff Assistant Secretary Joseph Encabo gasped in disbelief as he watched his ball roll through the sleek greens and straight to the cup for his first ever hole-in-one.
Encabo, who picked up golf when he was Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman William Ramirez’s chief assistant, aced the short, narrow, and very challenging par 3 125-yard hole no. 1 of the Club Intramuros Golf Course last February 15, Friday. He used a Titleist 48-degree wedge and a Titleist Pro-V ball.
The rare ace was witnessed by Philippine Coast Guard, Sr. Chief Ed Tantiado and Philippine National Bank executives Pio Santileces and Noel Macadamia.
“It was definitely a perfect start for a golfing day,” the Dabawenyo executive told Edge Davao in a message.
“Didnt expect to have it on that day. I went to Intramuros alone with no friends invited to play with me. It was a last minute decision to play before 6am strikes on that day,” he recounted.
Encabo was’t supposed to be in the flight but he was squeezed in. “I was mixed with other players whom I don’t know them personally. Pinasingit kung kung baga.”
Encabo officially became Intramuros Golf’s first ace scorer for the year.
“Coming right on my first swing, it’s so unlikely I would make an ace.
Usually, golfers start cold on the first swing,” he said. “It was also overwhelming experience because for the year 2020, I’m the first player to get a hole in one at Intramuros Golf.
