Games and Amusements Board chairman Baham Mitra said Tuesday he was impressed with the dry run of Chooks-To-Go Pilipinas 3×3’s Calamba bubble.
Chooks 3×3 made a test event of its bubble tournament at the Inspire Sports Academy in Calamba, Laguna on Monday and Mitra believed it was a success.
“I’m impressed with the preparations being done by Chooks-to-Go,” Mitra said about the country’s first-ever professional 3×3 basketball league. “They did not just meet the requirements but also improved on their submitted safety protocols.”
In response, Chooks-To-Go Pilipinas 3×3 owner Ronald Mascariñas thanked Mitra for the “kind words.”
“It’s our job to keep our players safe first and foremost as this is their livelihood,” he said.
If plans proceed, the Chooks-To-Go Pilipinas 3×3 President’s Cup, a Level 7 FIBA 3×3 club tournament, will begin on October 2, making it the first league to play amid the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic.
“Definitely, this is a huge step forward, not only for us but for Philippine sports as well, in this time of a pandemic,” Mascariñas added.
Another test run, this time putting more premium on setting up the live broadcast, will happen on Thursday. (PNA)
