Korean expat Kim IL Gyu and Leonard Cartagena took a headstart for the year after they emerged overall gross and net champions in the Rancho Palos Verdes Golf and Country Club Monthly Medal over the weekend.
Gyu finished with a 73 for the overall gross crown while Cartagena shared the spotlight by winning the overall net via countback with 67.
Both edged their respective foes which settled for the Class A Division honors that saw Cri Babol, 76 (gross champion), Karlo Mercado, 77 (gross r-up), Lee Bong Hee, 72 (net champion) and Simeon Gonzales, 80 (net r-up) at the winners podium.
The Class B Division honor roll had Herwin Tan, 84 (gross champion), Gil Bullecer, 86 (gross r-up), Gim Heung Su, 74 (net champion) and Park Sung Ho, 75 (net r-up) while Gary Verano, 87 (gross champion), Pen Alegre, 93 (gross r-up), Rowen Pausta, 72 (net champion) and Lito Bario, 75 (net r-up) comprise the Class C category victors.
In Class D, winners were John Martin, 94 (gross champion), Ike Pondoc, 102 (gross r-up), Donald Ogahayon, 74 (net champion) and Nilo Miole, 80 (net r-up). For the Ladies Class they were Maricel Kim, 85 (gross champion), Milou Babol, 85 (gross r-up), Kat Aviles, 73 (net champion) and Keseree Ng, 75 (net r-up).
