Villarosa-Lee wins team title, Zaragosa, Bacatcat share individual honors

The lush fairways and the pristine greens of the Rancho Palos Verdes golf was the perfect setting for the greatest dads on earth on Father’s Day Sunday. These rare species took its annual break and did nothing but enjoy and play the game they love to hate.

The FORE EVER 3.0 golf tournament, hosted on its third year by The Forefathers Golf Association, became the ultimate gathering of golfing fathers and some kids as well.

“This is our day and what a way to celebrate this special day under a perfect weather; We had fun under the sun and enjoyed the day playing with our golf buddies. Never mind the score. Isn’t it wonderful? said tournament director Paul Garcia during the fellowship night at the San Josue Resort in Buhangin, Davao City.

A total of 285 devoted fathers, singles and moms answered the shotgun start during the two-day tourney, had fun and lend their support to this worthy endeavor whose beneficiary is The House of Hope Foundation for the Children with Cancer. “Each golfer who participated in this tournament not only played the game but also made a big contribution to the foundation” Garcia added.

The tandem of Juben Villarosa and Reggie Lee tallied a total of 78 Modified Stable ford points to emerged as the Division 1 Team Champion easing out by a single point the tandem of Angelo Antivo and Sally Antivo.

Edge Davao columnist Engr Chito Malabanan and South Pacific Golf Director Tommy Inigo conspired to grab the Division 2 Team Runner Up Trophy barely losing by a point to the tandem of Arnold Navales and Ricky Pahang who tallied 76 points.

“Nobody was able to hit the jackpot, the Hole in One thus the organizers have decided to raffle off the AR airsoft gun and the colored TV,” Garcia said in appreciation of the massive support by the golfers for this tournament.

Class A individual winners were led by Juben Villarosa (38) and Dom Venuti (40) who bagged the Gross and Net diadem. Ranil Glimada (37) and AC Sian (39) followed suit as gross and net runner up winners respectively.

Alejandro So (31) and Don Zamora (42) grabbed the Class B gross and net champions trophy with Dario Gunabe (29) and Roy Diuyan (42) settling in with the runner up honors.

Tommy Inigo (21) won via countback over Epong Soliban in taking home the Class C gross title while Joey Jarabe (43) and Richard Gerardino (41) share the bounty as net champion and runner up for the class.

A battle royale among the Recovery 5:30 group ensued in Seniors Divison as Elvie Naranjo (33) subdued teammate Eugene Chiong to grab the Gross title. Bong Bautista (42) and Noe Taojo (40) complete the winners cast as they took the Net champion and runner up honors respectively.

Youngster Pauline Tamayo (38) of Brittannika golf in Tupi, South Cotabato won via countback over Bridgette Cordero in grabbing the Net diadem while Johanna Blair Uyking (28) and Maricel Kim (26) emerged as gross champion and runner up for the Ladies Division 1.

Katherine Aviles (17) and Ko Duri (35) crowned themselves as Gross and Net Champions in Division 2 over Mikah De Leon (11) and Misha Lim (32) who settled with the runner up honors.

As The Fore the Boys group was given the stage to announce their forthcoming golf tournament in July, the golfers were given the surprise of the night when the amount of 100,000 pesos was raffled off to the delight of the 20 lucky winners.

Indeed, it was an evening of fun, raffle, live band entertainment, food and drinks and laughter but most all the priceless fellowship in celebration of the Father’s day.

This tournament was co presented by the Subaru Davao, JINYI, BMVV Law office, HEXAT, Congressman Al Dujali and Hon. Secretary Leo Magno with the Angcore Motors, Fore the Boys, Coco Gen, Omerta Bistro/ House of Commons, Shimadzu, FPG Insurance with Edge Davao as media partner.
