First MAPEE Golf Tournament winners bared

A total of 70 practicing engineers, architects, suppliers and sponsors converged at the South Pacific Golf and Leisure Club for the First Mindanao Association of Professional Electrical Engineers Fun Golf tournament on Friday July 26,2024. This is a side event for their Annual Meeting and election of officers for the incoming year hosted this time by Davao City.

“This golf fellowship is our simple way of veering away from the formalities on the meeting and also to renew friendship with our friends and partners in the profession, suppliers and sponsors” said Dan Juson, tournament director.

Blessed with a perfect golfing weather, the invited golfers answered the double barrel start that commence at 630am and finished during lunch time for the fellowship and awarding ceremonies.

Jed Digal and Lando Cachuela lead the winner’s circle by grabbing the Overall Gross and Net Champion titles respectively. Digal carded a seven over par 79 to bag the gross title while Cachuela shared the honors in bagging the Overall Net title with his net 68.

Class A Division Gross champion title went to Luwee Payumo who scored an 81 besting Architect Patrick Tan (82) by a stroke. Meanwhile Bon So (70) bagged the Division Net diadem over Jay Molde (70) who settled for the runner up honors.

Class B Gross Champion and runner up trophies went to Apollo Algas (86) and Brendan Tirador (88) respectively. Dick Arellano bagged the Class Net title with his net 69 with Edwin Valledor (75grabbing the runner up honors.

For Class C division, Wendell Sabado scored 91 and took the Gross Champ title outpointing Ricky Pahang’s 92. Earl Dela Pena (68) and Ronald Advincula (71) completed the cast for the winner’s podium by taking the Division Net Champ and runner up honors respectively.

Edge Davao Columnist Engr Chito Malabanan top all comers in the Seniors Division by scoring 86 to bag the Gross Champion title with Tony Baustista (96) finishing as runner up. Jun Esapanola (70) and Ruben Sumagang (78) bagged the Division Net Champion and runner up titles respectively.

Buffet lunch prepared by the organizers and raffle prizes kept the golfers glued in their seats the rest of the fellowship ceremony held at the South Pacific Golf and Leisure Club clubhouse.

“This tournament is not only about golf and fellowship but we would also like to ensure our continued good relationship with our partners in the profession and gain new friends.” Engr Juson concluded.
