FTB Club dominates 9th UPLB Loyalty Cup

Fore the Boys (FTB) Club showed its dominance by winning most of the individual awards in the 9th University of the Philippines-Los Banos(UPLB) Loyalty Cup, October 19, at the South Pacific Golf and Leisure Club.

FTB’s Ricric Mise tamed the SPG layout with a three-under-par 69 equivalent to 57 Molave points to emerge as the overall gross champion. Bill Cartin, meanwhile, scored 61 Molave points to bag the overall net title.

“We are happy to announce that more than 150 golfers supported our call for this golf tournament and on behalf of the UPLB Alumni Association Davao City chapter, we are extending our thanks and appreciation to you, my fellow golfers.” said tournament director Ramon Bien during the awards night.

Addie Briones (53) grabbed the Class A gross plum while FTB’s Juben Villarosa (50) and Oying Caturan (46) took home, the first and second runners-up honors, respectively.

FTB’s Rene Manuel (57) and Boyet Sanico (55) bagged the Class A net crown and runner-up honor, respectively with Ricky Estardo (52) coming in as second runner-up.

Edge Davao Columnist Engr. Chito Malabanan (40) finished as Gross first runner-up in Class B won by Jerson Tico (44). FTB’s Marko Fuentes (40) finished second runner-up.

Stephen Alegre (56) took the Class B Net title while FTB’s Jun Cachuela (55) and Poypoy Canusa (54) shared the limelight as runners-up.

“The proceeds of this year’s tournament will go to the beneficiaries of “Pailaw in Oble” a lighting project for our less fortunate brothers in Marilog District. This is a continuing project of the UPLBAA and we are glad that more and more homes in the hinterlands are provided with solar lights from this endeavor” said Edwin Cayamanda, UPLB Alumni Association Davao City chapter president.

Class C winners were led by gross champion Oliver Victoriano (35) who won via countback over Bam Joaquin. Alfred Villamor (34) settled for second runner-up.

Juram Victoriano (57) took the Class C net diadem with Miko Arrieta (55) and Ronald Advincula (53) completed the podium as runners-up.

Cha Kato scored an eight-over-par 80 or 46 Molave points to bag the ladies division’s gross diadem with MTRCB’s Evelyn Quinsay (56) sharing the limelight by winning the overall net title.

Randal Hooper (48) and Glenn Tolentino(57) shared the honors as senior’s division gross and net champions, respectively.

“We are very grateful for our sponsors and friends of the Alumni Association but most especially you golfers for your support and strong participation to make this tournament a success. We are looking forward for your continued support on our next tournament,” said Bien.
