The Philippines Men’s National Football Team secured a podium finish in the 2024 King’s Cup after beating Tajikistan, 3-0, on Monday in Songkhla, Thailand.
After a scoreless first half, it was Gerrit Holtmann (47′) who put the country on the scoreboard, which was followed through by Jefferson Tabinas (58′), and then Zico Bailey made it a 3-to-love count after his goal at the 62nd minute mark to seal the deal for the Nationals.
It was also newly installed head coach Albert Capellas’ first win after taking the reins of the Philippine men’s national football team.
“As promised, we came back stronger!” the team said on Facebook.
Host country Thailand claimed top spot after defeating Syria, 2-1, while Tajikistan absorbed a fourth place finish.
